1. I am a CT State student and my class is at another campus. Can I use tutoring services at Norwalk?

If your class is at Norwalk and/or your home campus is Norwalk, then of course, you may use Norwalk tutoring services. Note that Norwalk tutors will not be familiar with details that are unique to the courses and professors at other campuses, but they can be helpful with universal course content.

If your home campus is not Norwalk and your class is not located at Norwalk, you are encouraged to seek out tutoring at the campus where your course is located. However, you can certainly meet with Norwalk tutors if that’s what works best for you.

2. Do I need an appointment?

It is a good idea to make an appointment so you know a tutor will be available to help you. Click here to learn how to make a tutoring appointment.

Drop-in tutoring is also available, no appointment required. You can review the drop-in schedule online or stop by to see if a tutor is available.

3. How much does it cost?

Tutoring is free for currently enrolled students.

4. What services do you offer?

We help with subject tutoring (understanding and reinforcing course concepts), writing tutoring (all classes including ESOL classes), and academic skills coaching (organization, textbook reading, study skills, etc.).

5. Can I get extra credit for coming here?

That depends on your professor. We do provide forms to verify your attendance.

6. Can visiting the Tutoring Center replace missing class?

No. We will do our best to help you get caught up, but tutors are prohibited from teaching new material.

7. Can I bring my lunch?

Please do not bring food into the Tutoring Center. Beverages in closed containers are fine, though!

8. How can faculty recommend potential tutors?

Faculty members are always welcome to recommend their students as potential tutors! You can do so by submitting this recommendation form. Thank you for your support.
