Students new to college are required to attend a PAW Workshop for advisement. Other students may contact the Academic Counseling Center 203.857.7033 for an advisement appointment.

College Credit Exemption

Students who have attended other colleges may be exempt from NCC’s English/Math assessment.

If you’ve earned previous college-level English and/or Math credits from an accredited institution and received a grade of C (2.0) or above, you do not require assessment.  (Please submit an official copy of your college transcript(s) to our Admissions Office.

If you’ve earned an Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited U.S. college/university, NCC assumes you possess the English/math skills required to be academically successful in our college-level courses and are exempt from assessment.

Please Note: NCC retains the authority to require a Math assessment for certain programs, and for all registrants after a period of 3 years.

SAT/ACT/AP Exemptions

Students who have taken the SAT or ACT may submit those scores for placement into English/Math courses.

Also, if you received a score of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement (AP) test in English, you will earn credit as having taken English 101 and will receive transcript credit.
