College Credit Exemption
Students who have attended other colleges may be exempt from CT State Norwalk ’s English/Math assessment.
If you’ve earned previous college-level English and/or Math credits from an accredited institution and received a grade of C (2.0) or above, you do not require assessment. (Please submit an official copy of your college transcript(s) to our Admissions Office.
If you’ve earned an Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited U.S. college/university, CT State Norwalk assumes you possess the English/math skills required to be academically successful in our college-level courses and are exempt from assessment.
Please Note: CT State Norwalk retains the authority to require a Math assessment for certain programs, and for all registrants after a period of 3 years.
Students who have taken the SAT or ACT may submit those scores for placement into English/Math courses.
Also, if you received a score of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement (AP) test in English, you will earn credit as having taken English 101 and will receive transcript credit.
