Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Human Subjects Protection

Welcome to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) website. The IRB is a committee that reviews all research involving human subjects. Its primary purpose is to ensure that human research subjects are protected. The protection of human research subjects is a federally regulated process. The primary role of NCC’s IRB is to ensure that all research involving our faculty, staff, students, and community members is carried out in a way that is consistent with these federal regulations. A secondary role of the committee is to review research involving our College to ensure that the proposed procedures are methodologically sound according to our professional judgment and to grant approval for research involving our campus community.

Additional information about federal IRB and Human Subjects regulations is available through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services website.
