Emergency Medical Technician
About this Course
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program is a short-term training program that provides students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide emergency patient care and ambulance transportation to sick and injured patients in route to the hospital. Topics include patient assessment, cardiac arrest management, airway management, patient immobilization, diabetic emergencies, strokes, and seizures. It also covers information about the emergency response system. This course is offered in cooperation with the Office of Emergency Medical Services and the CT Department of Public Health. The curriculum prepares students to take the exams needed to become nationally registered and state certified as Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition, a minimum of 10 clinical hours off site is required.
*Class will also meet on the following Saturdays from 9:00am-5:00pm in WEST 105: 10/19, 11/16, 12/7, 1/25, 2/1, 3/1
