Panther Advising Workshops (PAW)

Welcome to NCC!

As a first-time college student, we know that you are excited to pick out your major, select your first semester courses, and learn more about the opportunities that NCC has to offer. Our First-Year Advising team is here to help you get started.

Students entering college for the first-time are required to attend a Panther Advising Workshop (PAW) prior to registering for their first semester at NCC. The workshop will include:

  • a one-on-one or group meeting with an academic advisor
  • Important information about being a student at NCC
  • Registration for your first semester courses
  • Instructions on how  to use myCommNet and your NetID

LEARN MORE ABOUT PACT

PACT is Connecticut’s FREE college program.

Are you a first-time student?

First-time college students are new students who have never taken classes at any other college or university. If you have taken ECE (early college experience) classes in high school, you are still considered a first-time student.

Students who are not first-time college students should schedule a virtual registration appointment with the Academic Counseling Center. You are not a first-time college student if you have attended another college or received college credit from another institution.

First-time college students may follow the steps below to sign-up for their PAW session.

If English is not your first language or if you did not graduate from a U.S. high school with all four years of mainstream English (not ESL) classes, you will need to meet with the ESL department to determine your placement level and register for classes. ESL Sessions are designed specifically for English as a Second Language students. Please click HERE to schedule an ESL New Student Advising session.
