Students Learn Japanese Flower Arranging

Norwalk Community College is the only community college in Connecticut to offer academic courses in the Japanese language.

Japan native Judith Hata visited Professor Yumi MCarthy’s Japanese language class recently to give a demonstration on Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging.

Hata is past president of Ikebana International’s New York Chapter. She has traveled extensively around the world presenting demonstrations and spreading goodwill and education between America and Japan through her love of flowers.

This event was sponsored by NCC’s Japanese Language and Culture Club.

In 2017, NCC and Temple University Japan formed an educational partnership to give students and graduates the opportunity to study abroad at an accredited American university in Tokyo.
