About NCC VITA:
A national program under the management and supervision of the IRS, VITA also known as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, provides free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate-income individuals and families earning less than $57,000 a year. The Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS) manages one of the largest VITA Coalitions in Connecticut. Going to a VITA site not only can save taxpayers up to $300 in tax preparation fees, but our VITA Volunteers are trained to screen for credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Education credits, and additional credits to maximize their refunds.
NCC VITA is committed to helping eligible taxpayers file their income taxes in the remaining weeks. Norwalk Community College has participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for the past 12 years. Each year all volunteers must pass IRS certification examinations. Currently at NCC VITA, 80% of our volunteers have also completed the Federal taxation courses at Norwalk Community College. Others have completed more advanced work. NCC VITA continues to welcome participation by students as well as from volunteers from the wider community.
