The NCC Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer the non-credit Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate course from January 30 to May 8, 2019.
This 108-hour course prepares students to work in long-term-care-nursing facilities. The course includes 36 hours of classroom instruction, combined with 72 hours of practical hands-on training in the laboratory and clinical setting, which enables the student to deliver all aspects of personal care to clients. Students will have an opportunity to train in both a skilled nursing home as well as an acute care hospital. The course will meet Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at NCC.
Certified Nurse Aide is one of the fastest-growing occupations in the country. Because medical science is helping people live longer, CNAs today are in great demand in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities.
This NCC program has been approved by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Upon satisfactory completion of academic and clinical components of the course, students are eligible to apply for the state certificate to work in long-term care facilities.
