Film and TV Professor’s Documentary Film Nominated for NY Emmy Award
Julie Casper Roth’s documentary film Rooted Out has been nominated for a New York State Emmy Award. Casper Roth is an Assistant Professor of Film and Television at CT State-Norwalk. Her film, Rooted Out, captures the story of two men who were denied a marriage license in their hometown and the town’s efforts to erase the incident from public records. The film has screened at film festivals around the country garnering both a Jury and Audience award.
Rooted Out had its television premiere on WMHT-PBS (New York Capital Region). WMHT has since acquired the rights to rebroadcast the film. It will broadcast again on October 9, 2023 to coincide with National Coming Out Day (October 11th) and will be temporarily available to stream on the WMHT-PBS website.
The New York Emmy Award winners will be announced on October 28th in New York City.
