NORWALK, Conn. (January 14, 2019) – Kellie Byrd Danso, Ed.D. has been named Dean of Students at Norwalk Community College.
She brings more than 18 years of college administration and teaching experience to the position, and has expertise in mental health counseling, academic advising, career development, gender equity, student achievement, compliance issues and veteran affairs.
Prior to joining NCC, Dr. Byrd Danso was most recently Director of Student Engagement and Career Development at Gateway Community College in New Haven, CT. At Gateway, she also formerly served as Director of Career Services and Veteran Affairs and was a counselor.
She began her career in higher education as a resident hall director and later as a counselor at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Byrd Danso also has served as an adjunct instructor in psychology at Gateway Community College and an adjunct instructor in First-Year Experience at the University of Connecticut.
She holds an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University, an M.Ed. in Counseling/Student Development and Higher Education from North Carolina State University and a B.A. in Psychology from University of Connecticut.
