Animal Acupuncture

On November 8, Dr. Emily Andersen, a veterinarian practicing with Valley Veterinary Hospital in New Milford, Conn., lectured students in NCC’s Veterinary Technology degree program on the benefits of veterinary acupuncture.

Certified in acupuncture for animals, Dr. Andersen met with students and Vet Tech Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor Anne Hermans, DVM in the program’s wet lab to assess the condition of two dogs. Students were able to ask questions and assist in the diagnosis process.

NCC’s Vet Tech program has a Live Animal Laboratory which is a certified “Fear Free” facility. “Fear Free” is a national initiative whose behavioral and handling techniques result in lower stress for animals and their owners and better medical outcomes.
