‘The Flagmakers’ Screening and Q&A
Tue, Apr 4 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Meet Academy Award-winning filmmaker Cynthia Wade for a screening and virtual Q&A on Tuesday, April 4 from 1pm – 2:30pm in the East Campus GenRe Forum!
In association with the Academic Festival, please join us to view The Flagmakers (2022), a 35-minute documentary about an American flag making company that employs locals, immigrants, and refugees. The film follows these flag makers as they reflect on their identity and their relationship with America. The Flagmakers was shortlisted for this year’s Academy Awards.
Filmmaker Cynthia Wade will take audience questions via remote feed following the screening.
Wade won the Academy Award in the Best Documentary Short Subject category for Freeheld (2008). Her film Mondays at Racine was nominated for the same award in 2013. Outside of these honors, Wade’s commercial, serial, fiction, and documentary work have garnered her over 60 awards worldwide. She holds an MA in Documentary Film Production from Stamford University.
