Goose Feather Labyrinth Construction
Sat, Oct 12 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
The 9th annual Goose Feather Labyrinth, sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Norwalk Community College, will be constructed on Saturday, October 12. The labyrinth will be built on the hill between the North parking lot on East Campus and Richards Avenue starting at 10:00am and continuing until completed, around 6:00pm. All are welcome to come by and help or simply watch and have a good time.
This year’s labyrinth is based on the Metta Meditation (also called the Loving Kindness Meditation). Metta meditation was taught and practiced by Buddha on a daily basis as a way to create feelings of love, kindness, and compassion for oneself and then extending those feelings out to include those around us, and eventually, to the entire universe. The meditation begins by sending loving kindness to oneself, then to someone with whom we are close, then a neutral person, and then a person with whom we feel hostilities. We end with extending loving kindness to the entire world and universe.
The labyrinth will remain in the ground and be available to walk through next summer.
