Reading by Author Sharbari Ahmed

Thu, Apr 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Thursday, April 8, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Musings: The Journal of the Arts, NCC’s student-run literary magazine, is hosting Darien author, Sharbari Ahmed, to read from and discuss her latest book,  Dust Under Her Feet. A Q&A session will follow the reading.

Dust Under Her Feet explores race, love, and colonialism through the eyes of a young nightclub owner in Calcutta in the 1940s, as the British Raj is falling. Chaitali Sen, author of the Pathless Sky, suggests that the novel is “full of hear, wit, and glamour,” and that it “honours and subverts old Hollywood war movies and British Raj nostalgia. Yasmine is a whip-smart heroine, observing and narrating the absurd inequities of the coloniser and the colonized….”

Ms. Ahmed, a former writer on the TV series Quantico is presently a creative writing professor at Manhattanville College, and an Artist in Residence at Sacred Heart University. Please join us! All are welcome. The meeting link is below.
