NCC Linguistics Festival
April 17 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
The third annual Linguistics Festival at NCC will take place on Wednesday, April 17th from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the East Atrium. The Linguistics Festival is a celebration of the great linguistic and cultural diversity that our college has to offer.
More than two dozen NCC students who speak a total of 14 different languages have volunteered to teach a bit of their native tongue to fellow students. Tables will be set up around the atrium with beautiful posters that reveal a bit of the history of the language as well as some common (and fun) phrases, like “Tongue Twisters” and words to “Charm Anyone”. During the event, students get a “passport” and when they are able to say two or three phrases in a particular language, they will get a stamp in their passport. If they get eight different stamps, they will be entered into a raffle with $50 and $25 Amazon gift cards as prizes!
In the past, the event has generated a great deal of excitement and fun as well as an appreciation for the wonderful linguistic and cultural diversity this college has to offer. For more information, contact Prof. Robert Emigh at 203-857-3358 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you there!
