NCC Film Series — The Naked Spur (1953)
September 21 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Western or not, “The Naked Spur” starring Jimmy Stewart and Robert Ryan is a great movie, with enough mythos and dramatic intensity to invite comparisons with Greek and Shakespearean tragedy. The point is that stories this compelling, performances this daring defy categorization.
This film alone puts Anthony Mann in the company of such legendary western directors as John Ford and Howard Hawks. This is the best of all the great westerns Mann directed in the 1950s, with perhaps the darkest, most frightening of Stewart’s post-WWII portrayals. Come and see for yourselves what great moviemaking and screen acting are all about!
The film will be shown on Thursday, September 21 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the PepsiCo Theatre. Admission is free.
