Career Readiness Event
September 20 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Center for Career Development is launching a “Career Readiness” initiative this fall semester. The goal of this initiative is to ensure our students are prepared and evaluated on eight essential competencies (see attached), as identified by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). These essential competencies are designed to promote the students successful transition from campus to career. This initiative is simultaneously being discussed and implemented at all Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) under the leadership of CSCU’s Interim Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
In alignment with NACE’s competencies, the Center for Career Development will also launch our ten-step Career Readiness model, which is focused on not only raising awareness of these key competencies, but also providing the students with the necessary opportunities to develop the requisite proficiencies through curricular, and co-curricular experiences.
To kick off this initiative we will be hosting a Career Readiness Open House and we would love your support by either participating in bringing your class or encouraging your students to attend. This drop-in event will be held on Tuesday, September 12th from 10a.m.-1p.m. (W105) and Wednesday, September 20th from 1p.m.-4p.m. (W111).
Open House Highlights:
• Students will learn more about the benefits of this campus wide program
• How to navigate the eight competencies for professional success
• Meet the Center’s staff to work one-on-one to provide required workforce tools
Thank you for your collaboration and we look forward to our continued partnership!
All the best,
The Center for Career Development Team
