Cap and Gown Information
After approving your application to graduate, the Records Office will mail you a yellow stage card. Fill out your stage card and bring it to the NCC Bookstore between April 27 and May 16 to pick up your free souvenir cap and gown and commencement tickets.
Visit the Bookstore as soon as possible after you receive your stage card. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to pick up your regalia or get the correct size. Bookstore employees will assist you with the fitting of your cap and gown.
If you do not submit your stage card and pick up your cap and gown by Wednesday, May 16, you may not be able to march in the ceremony.
The Bookstore is open Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Tickets for Guests
When you submit your stage card in the NCC Bookstore to pick up your cap and gown, you may pick up a maximum of 10 commencement tickets. Tickets are required for all guests and small children. More tickets may be available at a later date. Check your NCC student email regularly for announcements.
Instructions for Graduates
There will not be a graduation rehearsal. Be sure to check your NCC student email regularly for commencement details.
On the day of the ceremony, Thursday, May 17, the Arena doors will open promptly at 3:30 p.m. for the arrival of students and guests. Students should report to the Arena with your commencement attire (cap, gown, and tassel) by 3:30 pm.
There will be no place to leave your valuables. We recommend that you leave them at home or with a friend, or lock them in the trunk of your car. Do not bring purses. Academic gowns do not have pockets. A waist or wrist pouch is the best. Remember to bring bobby pins to secure your mortarboard.
Graduating students should enter the Arena at the Guest Services Entrance and turn left when you have entered the concourse. Commencement marshals will direct you to the student area to receive instructions for graduation and receive your stage card. You must then robe and line up alphabetically by degree program. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. and end at approximately 7:00 p.m., followed by a light reception.
When proceeding to your seat, sit directly next to the person in front of you to ensure every seat in the row is filled and no seats are left empty.
During the ceremony, when you climb the stairs to the stage to receive your diploma cover, you will hand your stage card to the announcer. When your name is read, walk across the stage to receive your diploma cover.
Instructions for Guests
Tickets are required for all guests and small children. Each graduate may pick up ten (10) tickets at the Bookstore. Arena policy is that all bags are subject to search.

Graduates will be given diploma covers on stage at commencement. The diploma will be mailed to you about two months after graduation.
