Physical Therapy Aide Certificate

About this Course

The Physical Therapy Aide Certificate prepares students to work in the physical therapy environment, assisting therapists in improving the patient’s function and quality of life.  Students will learn about the profession of physical therapy as part of the health care team, including rehabilitation terminology, PT settings and specialties, and common medical diagnoses.  They will also learn safeguarding, transport and transfer skills, as well as skills for assisting with therapeutic exercise, gait and balance training, and other PT treatments.  This course includes 12 classroom hours and nine hands-on laboratory hours.

This certificate will count toward the admissions requirements of the Physical Therapist Assistant two-year degree program at NCC. See the PTA Program Director for details:  jbresnick@norwalk.edu.
