Certified Nurse Aide
About this Course
This 6-week accelerated 111-hour course, prepares students to work in long-term-care-nursing facilities, hospitals, assisted living facilities, and home care. The course includes 39 hours of classroom instruction, combined with 72 hours of practical hands-on training in the laboratory and clinical setting, which enables the student to deliver all aspects of personal care to patients. Students will have an opportunity to train in clinical settings within the community. Students learn about the physical and emotional changes related to aging. This course has been approved by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Students will be given both the State written and clinical exams at NCC at no additional cost. In addition to C.N.A. certification, students will receive Red Cross Adult CPR Certification, valid for two years.
Entrance Requirements:
- In order to participate in off-site clinicals, students must be fully Covid vaccinated 14 days prior to the first day of off-site clinical.
- Students must register for a clinical assignment at the time of C.N.A. registration. Students must attend all clinical sessions. This is a time-intensive course; please plan accordingly.
- Students are required to have a medical exam to meet state requirements to work in a health care facility and must be submitted by the first class. Health forms are online at: http://norwalk.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Medical-Forms-for-Clinicals.pdf
- Required Materials:
- NCC approved wine-colored scrub top and pants, plain white non-canvas shoes with non-skid soles
- NCC name tag (purchased in the NCC bookstore)
- A watch with a second sweep hand
- Textbook and workbook
