Program: Art
Through studio experience, lecture, and class discussion, students will explore design principles, techniques, materials and tools relevant to creating sculptural forms. Instruction in additive and subtractive methods. Emphasis placed on the creative process and analysis of sculptural works. This is a non-credit offering of Sculpture I that is offered in conjunction with a credit course.
An introductory course with an emphasis on hand building and an introduction to basic throwing. In hand building the focus will be on pinch, coil and slab methods. In throwing, cylindrical forms will be explored. Instruction in glaze application and composition will be covered.
This course is designed to introduce students to visual communication through graphic design. Students practice basic studio skills with an emphasis on developing the ability to convert creative concepts into a visual medium.
