New articulation agreement between NCC PTA and ECSU

The PTA program now has an articulation agreement with Eastern Connecticut State University. Students in the Physical Therapist Assistant program can apply their coursework toward a B.G.S. in Health Care Administration at Eastern Connecticut State University through an agreement between the two schools. Students who successfully complete the PTA program at NCC will be able to use that clinical/coursework to fulfill the minor concentration requirement for the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree in Health Care Administration at Eastern. This training as a PTA will constitute a minor concentration in Allied Health. Talk to an advisor for more details about this flexible program.

PTA program teams up with ONS in Greenwich

The PTA program at NCC has forged a partnership with Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Specialists of Greenwich, CT.  PTA students will have the opportunity to observe cadaver dissections completed by the surgeons of ONS, as part of the Kinesiology for Rehabilitation course in the spring semester.  Students will go to the state-of-the-art teaching facility at ONS for instruction by ONS surgeons in anatomy using actual human cadavers.  Funded by a grant from the Norwalk Community College Foundation, this learning opportunity puts NCC’s PTA program, “on a different level,” said L. Roger Silva, PT, DPT, the program’s coordinator and primary faculty for Kinesiology for Rehabilitation.  “Very few PTA students have the opportunity to learn with actual cadaver samples.  Being able to see the real thing gives the student a very important perspective in their learning process.  Not many PTA programs in the country can say that they offer this to their students.”

NEW!!! TEAS exam now required for admission

Students wishing to apply to the PTA program must now complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam.  For information on how to register, where to take the exam, study guides and more, please visit the Assessment Technologies Institute’s website.  To avoid additional fees, register to take your exam at Norwalk Community College.
