Self-Portrait, Sculpture

Ever since I was a child, I have always been interested in art and music. After coming to the United States in May of 2005, I found myself in this new and completely different environment and felt a little bit lost. After completing high school, I was faced with the question about what I wanted to do next. I have never been sure about what to do with my interests, but I knew I had a passion for art, photography and color. Going through NCC’s brochure, I saw the program for graphic design. The course content and details from the counselors made me understand this was the best program to reveal myself, where I will be using all my passion for art, photography, color and obviously, technology. The required courses included drawing, color, graphic design, programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other basic courses.

Knowing that there was nothing to lose, I thought I should give it a try. I do not regret making that decision. Thanks to my fantastic teachers John Alvord, Joe Fucigna and Ken Lalli, I learned a great deal about art and design history, foundation skills in studio arts and graphic design, and the necessary computer programs to work in the design field. After receiving an A.S. degree in Graphic Design from NCC, I am going to transfer to a four year school.
