Medical Office Management Information Packet

Associate Degree Program Requirements

Applicants seeking to complete their education towards a Medical Office Management Associate Degree Program must have taken or are planning to take either the Medical Assistant OR Health Office Information Certificate Program.

  • College application) with application fee of $20.00 for first-time applicant to any of the twelve Connecticut Community Colleges.
  • Norwalk Community College—Medical Assistant Program application. (No additional application required for the Medical Office Specialist Certificate Program)
  • Official High School transcripts indicating graduation or GED.
  • Official College/university transcripts, if applicable.
  • Proof of Measles and Rubella immunization.


Complete the required Accuplacer computerized placement test. The placement test maybe waived for applicants who have prior college English and/or mathematics credits.



Admission Requirements for fall of 2015:

  • HS graduate or equivalent
  • Accuplacer score eligible for MAT 136 or higher.
  • Accuplacer score eligible for ENG 101 or higher.
  • GPA 2.0 – Based on all college credits taken within the past five years; and any college courses taken prior to five years that are transferred in to meet the Medical Assistant/Medical Office Specialist curriculum requirements.




  • Non-Medical Assistant Courses - Applicants must have official transcripts from other colleges or universities sent to the Admissions Office by the application deadline. In accordance with transfer of credit guidelines set forth by the Board of Trustees, courses which meet Medical Assistant/Medical Office Specialist program requirements will be accepted by the college.
  • Credits Earned Outside the United States – Transcripts need to be evaluated by the “Course By Course” option through the World Education Services Inc, PO Box 745, Old Chelsea Station, New York, New York 10113 or another site approved by Norwalk Community College.


Transfer Medical Office Management Students from Programs outside Norwalk

Transfer students who wish to transfer Medical Assistant courses from another college or university will be considered for transfer after a written request for evaluation of Medical Assistant course work has been received by the Medical Office Coordinator. Applicants must meet all Medical Assistant program admission requirements. Transfer students will be admitted based upon the student’s meeting eligibility requirements and the availability of openings, clinical resources, and faculty.

Freshman year from Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist Certificate Programs


Pre-requisite: Keyboarding with a grade of C, pass or better OR HS Keyboarding with a C or better OR Test out through NCC keyboarding competency exam
