MEDICAL OFFICE MANAGEMENT (Administrative Track) - INFORMATION PACKET

Associate Degree Program Requirements

 

Applicants seeking to complete their education towards a Medical Office Management Associate Degree Program must the following requirements.

 

  • Complete College application with application fee of $20.00 for first-time applicant to any of the twelve Connecticut Community Colleges.
  • Submit Official High School transcripts indicating graduation or GED.
  • Submit Official College/university transcripts, if applicable.
  • Submit Proof of Measles and Rubella immunization.

 

Complete the required Accuplacer computerized placement test.  The placement test may be waived for applicants who have prior college English and/or mathematics credits.

 

 

Admission Requirements for Fall of 2016:

 

  • HS graduate or equivalent
  • Accuplacer score eligible for MAT 136 or higher. 
  • Accuplacer score eligible for ENG 101 or higher. 
  • GPA 2.3 – Based on all college credits taken within the past five years; and any college courses taken prior to five years that are transferred in to meet Medical Office Management requirements.
  • Keyboarding with a grade of C or better or HS Keyboarding with a C or better or passing grade or a letter on company letterhead from your employer.
  • Student can test out of the CSA 105 course by going to http://www.norwalk.edu/cs/#csa105 for information and application.

 

Cooperative Work Experience Credit

 

For the Cooperative Work Experience course the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • GPA 2.3 or higher
  • Declared as a Medical Office Management Major
  • Interview with Medical Office Management Director
  • Completed 30 credits including
    • Med Terminology MED 125
    • Medical Insurance and Billing MED 112
    • Medical Coding MED 217
    • Complete application for Cooperative Work Experience (RM H112)

  

   

Transfer Credit
 
  •  Applicants must have official transcripts from other colleges sent to Counseling Office.  In accordance with transfer of credit guidelines set forth by the Board of Trustees, courses which meet Medical Office Management Program requirements will be accepted by the college.
  • Credits Earned Outside the United States – Transcripts need to be evaluated by the “Course By Course” option through the World Education Services Inc, PO Box 745, Old Chelsea Station, New York, New York 10113 or another site approved by Norwalk Community College.

 

 

Transfer Medical Office Management Students from Programs outside Norwalk

 

Transfer students who wish to transfer Medical Office Management courses from another college will be considered for transfer after a written request for evaluation of Medical Office course work has been received by the Medical Office Coordinator.
